GDC Die

Gravity Die Casting (GDC) uses the force of gravity to fill a permanent metal mold with molten aluminum. It produces castings with better dimensional accuracy, smoother surface finish, and superior mechanical properties compared to sand casting, while remaining more economical than pressure die casting for medium-volume production. Vyankatesh Engineering GDC Dies are precision-machined from premium tool steel, thermally balanced to control solidification, and blue-matched on all seating faces to prevent flash.

Key Features

Manufactured from AISI H-13 / DIN 1.2344 for resistance to thermal fatigue in GDC temperatures

Vacuum hardening provides consistent hardness without surface oxidation or distortion

Nitriding on metal-contact surfaces extends die life by resisting erosion from molten aluminum

Precision-ground parting lines and seating faces prevent flash formation

Drilled cooling circuits positioned to control solidification direction and minimize shrinkage

Complete die assembly and fit check performed before delivery

Applications

  • Automotive engine mounting brackets and supports
  • Pump housings, valve bodies, and fluid system components
  • Electrical enclosures and switch housings
  • General engineering structural components
  • Replacement dies for worn or damaged permanent molds

Key Advantages

Longer die life compared to non-nitrided alternatives due to surface hardness

Precision blue matching eliminates flash and reduces finishing cost on castings

Controlled cooling reduces shrinkage and porosity in casting sections

End-to-end management means one point of contact for design, manufacture, and support

Quality Assurance

100% Inspection Before Dispatch

Assembly and blue matching inspection performed before dispatch. Cooling circuit pressure tested to confirm integrity.
