What Are Pins?
Die casting pins are precision-machined, heat-treated steel components that form holes, slots, and internal features within the die cavity. Core pins form blind or through holes. Jet cool (JC) pins incorporate an internal bore through which high-pressure water or air is directed to remove heat from hot-spot zones that cannot be cooled by conventional water circuits. Profile pins extend this capability to non-circular cross-sections.
Core pins and jet cool pins are the most frequently replaced consumable components in any die casting operation.
