Shot Sleeve

The Shot Sleeve is the primary metal containment component in every cold-chamber high-pressure die casting machine. It receives the molten metal charge and the shot plunger drives the metal through it and into the die cavity. Vyankatesh Engineering Shot Sleeves are manufactured from certified AISI H-13 / DIN 1.2344 and processed through a full precision manufacturing cycle — turning, boring, hardening, grinding, and nitriding — to achieve the bore quality and dimensional accuracy required for smooth plunger travel and leak-free metal injection.

Key Features

Manufactured from certified AISI H-13 / DIN 1.2344 for maximum thermal fatigue and erosion resistance

Available fully cooled (water jacket around full length) or partially cooled (cooling at the metal charge zone)

One-piece design for maximum rigidity; two-piece design for ease of maintenance and replacement

Bore honed to Ra ≤ 0.4μm to ensure smooth plunger travel and minimize metal sticking

Thermal balancing engineered to produce consistent metal temperature at the die gate

Continual improvements in surface treatment improve casting quality and sleeve service life

Material, Finish & Customization

Material
AISI H-13 / DIN 1.2344 Hot Work Tool Steel

Applications

  • Cold-chamber high-pressure die casting machines (HPDC)
  • Replacement sleeves for worn or eroded shot cylinders
  • High-silicon aluminum alloy casting where erosion resistance is critical
  • Machines requiring thermally balanced sleeves to reduce misrun and cold shut defects

Key Advantages

Thermally balanced bore reduces misrun, cold shut, and flow-related defects in the casting

Four configuration options (fully/partially cooled × one/two-piece) provide flexibility for different machine sizes

Superior bore finish reduces plunger friction, extending both sleeve and tip life

Dedicated machining capability allows rapid turnaround for emergency replacements

Quality Assurance

100% Inspection Before Dispatch

Bore roundness, straightness, surface finish, and hardness are verified before dispatch. Plunger fit is checked where sample plunger is supplied.
